What a thrill to learn from Dr. Brené Brown’s blog last week about this marvelous video of the Cups song—sung in Gaelic—from the film “Pitch Perfect,” performed by the young people and staff of Irish college Coláiste Lurgan. It’s the perfect thing to feature as a “Connection Spotlight,” because the connections explode on so many levels: the haunting music with the rhythm, the singer with the musicians and cup percussionists, the Gaelic lyrics with the hearts of listeners. If you want to follow along with the Gaelic, click here.

And for those of you who just can’t stand not knowing what the lyrics mean in English, click here, but you don’t need it to be moved by this wonderful performance.

Brené Brown said it best: “Sometimes when the water is deep and dark, music is the perfect lifeboat.”
